After studying at the Glasgow School of Art, Rory worked by day honing his digital skills at the Sunday Herald Picture Desk, whilst experimenting with 3D animation and compositing techniques. The success of several projects prompted Rory and a collaborator to found the limited company Once Were Farmers in 2002. Rory continues as co-managing director and creative director of Once Were Farmers. Directing a diverse range of projects from Short Films, Adverts and Titles Sequences to Visual Effects and overseeing the general running of the company. In 2006 Rory won a new directors competition to direct adverts. Rory has won eleven awards for his Short Films, adverts and Virals since 2006, at the Scottish and The Roses Advertising Awards. His Short film “This is J03” won the 'Innovation in New Media' award at Ourense Film Festival in 2009 and Best Fantasy Short at the Animatron Film Festival 2010. Rory’s short film The Midge has won several awards including ‘I’ve Seen Films’ 20th Century Fox Internet jury award, who’s judges included Rutger Hauer, Ridley Scott and Robert Rodriguez. In 2008, Rory and co-director Will Adams teamed up with freelance games designer, Dave Spaien, to form Me and the Giants, a games company specialising in mobile gaming and stealth education for young children.
